JB Hi-Fi: DISRUPTING THE NZ ELECTRONIC MARKET

The Business Problem

Popular electronic store JB Hi-Fi was launched in NZ in 2006 and has achieved moderate success to date, but can see a significant opportunity to grow and expand within the consumer electronic market.

THE BRIEF

Insights Exchange was commissioned by JB Hi-Fi in 2022 to better understand the market and competitive landscape in NZ, its customers and potential customers, including who they are, purchase drivers, awareness of JB Hi-Fi, brand & experience differentiation from competitors.

SOLUTION

The research and insights had clear impact on the growth strategy and enabled JB Hi-Fi to make decisions based on real customer data.

JB Hi-Fi announced in 2023 their five-year growth strategy to open more stores, refitting the existing network, relocating stores to be in more convenient locations for customers, and launching two international airport locations. This includes going from 14 stores nationwide to 38 over the next five years and upgrading its online platform.

Insights Exchange wish JB Hi-Fi continued success in their NZ expansion.
